Regatta Waters
In 2000/01 Habitat was commissioned to conduct extensive Ecological Assessments over the entire Regatta Waters site. These studies were conducted prior to any development works taking place and contributed to the overall development and open space masterplan for the site.
Prior to development, the site was mainly farmland pastures with some minor scattered pockets of remnant vegetation on-site. The dominant feature of the site was a large water body that forms the centrepiece of Regatta Waters as we know it today.
Our work identified a particularly significant stand of old growth vegetation that was preserved and rehabilitated. In addition, significant stands of riparian vegetation was preserved and rehabiltated, forming a major Riparian Corridor function along the southern bank of the Coomera River.
Our baseline ecological studies were then further supported by Flora and Fauna Management Plans that Habitat prepared which have ensured that these valuable ecological areas are preserved and protected for all time.
